Midwifery


Hello!

Today I’m going to speak about “Midwifery”. Few persons know the work of the matron, today, it will explain about that this beautiful profession treats itself
Midwifery is a profession with ancient roots, but has evolved considerably over time; The midwife provides advice, care and support for women, their partners and families before, during and after childbirth. They care for newborn children, providing health education and parenting support for the first 28 days.
The term "midwife" is derived from mid = "with" and wif = "woman". The midwife provides services for women in the areas of: Preconception care, prenatal care, labour and birth, postpartum care, also provide primary health care to women from puberty through menopause and beyond, including: Annual exams (Pap smear, breast exam), family planning, treatment of routine gynaecological problems, counselling for adolescents in sexuality and contraception choices, management of the perimenopause/menopause and hormone replacement therapy.
Midwives are autonomous practitioners who are specialists in low-risk pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. They generally strive to help women to have a healthy pregnancy and natural birth experience, midwives are trained to handle certain situations that may be described as normal variations or may be considered abnormal, including twin births and births where the baby is in a posterior position, using non-invasive techniques.
The midwife is recognised as a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the infant. This care includes preventive measures, the promotion of normal birth, the detection of complications in mother and child, accessing of medical or other appropriate assistance and the carrying out of emergency measures, a midwife may practice in any setting including in the home, the community, hospitals, clinics or health units
Midwives generally support and encourage natural childbirth in all practice settings. Laws regarding who can practice midwifery and in what circumstances vary from state to state
This is my beautiful profession!
